Out On The Jetty !

I often drive my husband to work here out on Hutchinson Island  and he would tell my son and I about places he had been to here in the area before we came down here to Florida.

A family of Pelican's
I drove him to work  the other day and ran some errand's around town and when it was time to pick him up which is usually after about 10 to 12 hours later , my son and I made our way over both bridges across the Atlantic ocean and onto the island around the round about and past many high rise condos and apartments and about four public beaches. The place where he works was just letting out and second shift  was on their way to work,so traffic on the island was quite heavy. That day he had worked 10 hours so he was still in the go mood !

He asked if we wanted to go out to the end of the island that is called the jetty, it's a strip of land and rocks, (not wide at all) that jet's a ways out into the ocean. First thing I asked him was " Is this going to FREAK me out ? " To which he said NO. Well as we were driving there which was about 12 miles from his work my son and I noticed that most of the houses were on stilts. We got to the end of the road and it dead ended at a really nice park and a walkway out to the jetty. On the  walkway and out to the end of the jetty  was filled with people fishing.
The Jetty

It's actually very beautiful, quiet and peaceful and did not scare me at all ! We even walked out almost to the end of the jetty to the point where the rocks  were getting down to about three feet wide and the waves were splashing over the jetty ! My son wanted his picture taken there and his whole back side got wet, sure glad he didn't jump when he got wet ! Yes he took our picture also !

Looking across the ocean from the side of the Jetty
Isn't this just a beautiful site to see ? As anybody knows who lives out or has ever been out to the ocean it's just nature at it's best ! Can't wait to go back out there again !
The end of the Jetty looking out at the Atlantic Ocean

Then of course back to reality !~ I had said that I was going to start sewing again so for Christmas I made a little jean purse for my grand daughter Daisy ! First one I have ever made !

I lined it with some pink material that had little ladybugs on it and made it so it showed at the top of the purse and put two small velcro   strips on it for closures and took some of the ladybug material and made a flower and hand stitched it onto the front pocket.

I hope you all enjoy my adventures and I have lots more to post ! The Hobe Sound Arts Festival is comming up on Feburary 5th & 6th and yes I'll be going to that so I'll be posting lots about the festival ! Along with some more gourd painting I've done  ( yes some Saints & Giants ) check out my Etsy shop !  I do take orders !!!! Also  some more sewing that I've done.

Til the next time ! Have a GREAT day !!!!

Jenson Beach Arts and Crafts Festival

This was my very first Arts and Crafts Festival since we came here to Florida.  This was in Jenson Beach , just before you go across the bridge that goes to Hutchinson Island. The bridge crosses over on one side the Atlantic Ocean and the other side the inter coastal waters. The main street of Jenson Beach was shut down and lined with craft booths after craft booths, they were on the side streets and parking lots. They had lots of jewelry booths, painters, clothing you name it they probably had something you were looking for..

It was a beautiful sunny day filled with lots of craft goers and yes I saw alot of buying going on. Crafters were demonstrating their crafts which I just loved to stand and watch them. I talked to one women who was painting on canvas and I asked her if she was using oils , she simply said " in my mind I'm using oils but I paint with acrylics " . She said she tried oils but she was to impatient with the drying time. Her acrylic canvas paintings were just BEAUTIFUL  !!

This picture was looking downtown at the art and crafts festival , which at the end of the street was the Atlantic Ocean.

This is a TI KI bar & grille with inside and outside service, the tables have straw umbrellas, the place was packed during the festival, but then again it's packed all the time !

This is the end of the street which over looks the Beautiful Ocean , like I said it was a BEAUTIFUL day " who could ask for anything else "

This is my husband and son standing by a surf board that had been hand painted. Isn't that just the neatest thing ? I bet it doesn't see much waves now ! This surf board sits in front of a art store which we went in and looked through,. They had  the craziest and neatest art  I had seen in a long time. They also teach all kinds of arts, painting, glass, wood carving and it's bring your own bottle, come alone or bring a friend $ 30.00 dollars for 3 hours and they supply everything and I mean everything plus you take home what you've done, the owner says if you don't like what you've made at least you'll have made some friends and depending what you bring to drink   hopefully had a great time and  Yes it's any thing you want to drink as long as your of age !!! Sounds REALLY good to me !!!

These are craft booths taken from another street actually it's two different streets and a parking lot or two !!

We had to park in the boat marina which was a nice spot to park at, parking spots were few and far between. It was a GREAT day. Looking forward to the next craft show which is February $th & 5th another one in Jenson Beach  and an even bigger one here in Hobe Sound and next weekend there is a Seafood Festival this weekend January 29th in Port Salerno.  So stay tuned for some more postings with the upcoming festivals.
I hope your enjoying my adventures.

Til the next time !!!

This One Has A Heart !!!

It's True !!!   You Gotta Check This Out !!!!

While I was walking along the beach out on Hutchinson Island the other day watching the waves breaking and washing up all the shells onto the beach. Whenever I go I always bring a bag of some sort with me to collect as many different and interesting shells that I can find.. After spending a relaxing and Great day with my husband and son of sunshine and shell collecting, we made our way back to our trailer, it was getting dark to dark to see all the shells that I did collect , I put my bag down on the porch and decided that  I would look at them the next day.

Much to my surprise I came across this shell with a heart shape in the middle of it (this is no joke ! I found it just like this ! )This just AMAZED me ! Makes me wonder, how about you ? Needless to say I took this shell & tucked it away in a safe spot !
I took a picture at different angles so you could see how perfectly shaped this little heart was on this little shell. The shell itself is maybe an inch long and about a half an inch round. Truly AMAZING to me !!!!!

This picture I took going across the Rosevelt bridge that crosses the intercostal waters in Stuart Florida . There is a boat marina on one side and of course lots of hotels and townhouses and a drawbridge below on the other side.
just a intercostal picture shot from another spot.

Here are just some of the many  shells that I have collected on my trips out to Juniper Beach and walking on the beach's by the Atlantic Ocean, as I call them Shells for the Crafter which I am selling at my Etsy shop. There are so many things that you can make with shells. You can make jewelry, lamps, I;ve seen clocks, candles, handpainted ones with scenes on them, plant hangers you name it you can make an assortment of items with them and they are fresh right out of the Atlantic Ocean! Infact they have been washed by the ocean and the bags even have sand with them. Your imagination can go wild !!!

I have filled quart and gallon size bags with an assortment of many different size and shapes of shells from small to large! Also there are many different colors from peralized white to orange, red and stripped ones!
And Yes there really is beach glass that comes rolling up from the ocean ! These are so far the ones that we have collected. They come in many different colors as you can see. The light pink is one of the rare colors to find. Beach glass comes mainly from ship wrecks and  is tossed around in the ocean and washed naturally by the waves, they are all different shapes and frosted.
Jelly Fish he or she floated up with one of the waves from the ocean ! At first we thought it was a balloon until we got up close then we realized it was a jelly  fish  he lost his tenticles they were laying close by. Aren't they awesome looking ?

How about this ocean crab we and other beach goers watched him for about an hour just getting washed up onto the sand and he'd run around until the next wave about 5 seconds later  and he just keeped getting washed back and forth from the ocean to the beach until he finally got washed back into the ocean ! He was quite the topic of conversation and I think he knew it !

I am also doing my painting on my gourds, as you can tell I brought along with me alot of my small ornament gourds to paint. I can paint any style that you may want and if I haven't done one before I sure can try and will. I'm up for a challange ! But my most popular ones are my sports figures ! I've started  one of my sports bird house gourds, so I am keeping pretty busy. So check back and see who this sports guy will be any suggestions ? Should he be a Denver Broncos ? What do you think ?

Remember all these little gourd ornaments can stand on a stand to be displayed or hung up anywhere your heart desires !

Until the next time !!

Look What All I Found !!!!!

A collection of Atlantic Ocean Shells
On one of the  BEAUTIFUL sunny days  here in Florida  while walking along the beach, I just couldn't stop looking down at the sand &  notice all the beautiful colors & shapes of all the shells, fossilized rocks & drift wood  that had washed up from the waves ! As I walked out into the water I could feel all the shells pushing up against my feet & legs. I was amazed thinking what other Treasures might be out in the vast Atlantic Ocean!I watched a man that was walking along the beach with a claw type basket that was hooked on a long pole. He was walking out into the water & scooping under the water with this basket in one hand  & a bucket  in the other. He would pull it back up and see what he had found & place what he wanted to keep in the bucket. I was amazed & thought what a great idea for finding all the Treasures from the Atlantic that was still buried under the waves on the bottom of the ocean! I never did ask him to see what he was finding, I just watched him walk the coast line until I couldn't see him anymore. I think next time I see him out on the beach I'm going to walk up to him & ask !
These are just some of the unusual shells that I found that were scooped up with my hands from the waves at the edge of the ocean. My thoughts are just in awe of what all is out there and still to be washed up from the ocean for me to find !

I decided I would make some jewelry from these Amazing shells that I found! This is only the beginning of all the creations that can be made from shells. I think I need to buy a better camera so you could really see the beautiful colors that these shells really have & the unusual but fascinating imperfections that the ocean leaves on the shells! That's what makes them all one of a kind pieces of jewelry ! What a GREAT gift these would be, no one else would have the same !

Where we are staying a here is completely surrounded by ocean and inlets, to get anywhere here you have to cross lots of bridges but the view looking out over the bridges is Breath taking ! Where my husband is working is out on an island called Jenson Beach Island, Beautiful mansions, high rise condos and Tony Romo has a Great restaurant on the island, whenever I take my husband to work I have to drive by it and it's always packed with people! On Thursday nights they shut down the main part of Jenson and have an all out party !

Another Fascinating Shell !

We are about 15 minutes from West Palm Beach, which my son & I drove to last week, it is also breath taking ! This is where Tiger Woods built that Beautiful Mansion on the ocean front, which we drive by to go to our bank. Of course we weren't able to see because the news reported she bought it and leveled it to build an even more Amazing mansion for her & her children. The news said she still lives near by. Tiger still lives in Orlando but is also building a mansion near by on one of the islands.

Not sure what I'm going to make with these shells . I may just put them in my Etsy shop for another crafter to enjoy & make something amazing out of them !  There are alot of beach's here on the main land and on the islands. I'm hoping my husband has tomorrow off so that we can travel around to some of the other beach's and investigate what other Treasures might wash up in the waves ! So please check back often as I post the new sites I see & the new creations that I come up with. Also check out my Etsy Sop to grab onto some of the one of a kind Treasures From The Bottom Of The Atlantic Jewelry & of course my one of a kind gourd sports creations. Remember if there is something special you would like me to paint or create just email me !

Thanks and have a Beautiful day,

Cheryl
